A Bold Step Toward Electoral Justice and Democracy in Nigeria

The Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, in partnership with the political commissions of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has launched a groundbreaking initiative — the National Action Plan on Electoral Reform (NASEAR).
This action plan responds to the widespread failures of Nigeria’s electoral system in the 2023 general election and subsequent off-season elections, and it aims to restore public trust in electoral integrity through institutional, judicial, and civic reform.
By focusing not just on legislation, but on the decision-making processes of INEC, the accountability of the judiciary, and the mobilization of citizens and political actors, this joint initiative charts a more radical and necessary path toward truly free, fair, and credible elections in 2027 and beyond.
