To mark International Women’s Day 2026, the Abuja School convened a virtual policy dialogue on “Women, Power, and the Public Good: Rethinking Leadership and Justice in Nigeria.”

This policy brief emerges from that conversation. It reflects on the structural conditions that shape women’s participation in leadership, the limitations of justice as currently constituted, and the broader implications for democratic governance in Nigeria.

At its core, the brief invites a deeper interrogation of power—how it is organized, who it serves, and what it means for the pursuit of the public good. It argues that women’s leadership is not a question of inclusion alone, but one that speaks to the very foundations of justice and the future of democracy.
